The Urban Beach is Christchurch's best kept secret.

Once it was a bowling green then it was destroyed by the Earthquakes but now it is getting more activity than ever due to the filling of the area with 900 tonnes of fresh washed sand.

The area plays host to a number of regular activities including:

  • Beach Volleyball both Competitive and Social (starting from daylight savings through to the end of daylight savings)

  • Beach Netball

  • Beach Handball

  • Beach Football

  • Beach Korfball

  • And many, many more fun activities
